When is the right time for Estate Planning?

Short answer first? Right now. Are you over the age of 18 years old? Do you have a family? Do you have stuff?

Attorney Kahlee Smith started working in the Estate Planning field as a law clerk when the Pulse Shooting happened in Orlando, Florida. Most of the victims being around her age of 20 something, their parents likely never thought they'd have to go through probate for their child. In addition, victims that had a stay in the hospital - their parents didn't have a legal right to make financial, legal, or health care decisions for them without proper documentation in place.

Estate Planning is a sensitive topic - specifically because nobody likes to talk about death. But Estate Planning isn't JUST planning for your death - it is also planning for your incapacitation. You should be in control of who will make decisions for you if you are unable to make those decisions yourself.

At the end of the day, Estate Planning is for your peace of mind. Whether you are fresh starting out or have generations that you care for, there is a Plan that is right for you. You deserve to feel comfortable knowing your wishes are on paper and that you have a say in what happens to your assets. Take some of the burden of that responsibility away from your family and bring them comfort in knowing what is happening is how you would want it to happen.
