Frequently

Questions
Why would I need to review an Estate Plan that I already have in place?
1. The simplest answer is: Life. Changes. So often we see clients who have a "set it and forget it" mindset when it comes to their Estate Plan. However, the biggest guarantee in life is change. Every major life change should trigger the opportunity to have your Estate Plan reviewed - marriage, a move, birth of a new child or grandchild, start of a business venture, death of a beneficiary or decision maker.

2. Law changes are another big reason to have your plan reviewed. Take advantage of a free consultation and be sure that your plan is in compliance with any recent law changes.

3. Your plan may no longer be working in the way you want it to be working. Especially if you set up your Estate Plan when you had minor children and are now enjoying retirement, it may be best to reconfigure the workings of your Plan so it is designed with your family in mind.
Can I just download forms from the internet for my Estate Plan?
While DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Estate Planning is possible, it is important to meet with any attorney to be sure that your goals, wants, and needs are being met with your Estate Plan. All too often the downloadable forms do not come with instructions even for signing the documents, much less an explanation of what each form means and why you need it. Even worse, many of the forms may not be in compliant with your own state law.
How do I know what documents I need in my Estate Plan?
The simplest answer - your attorney can tell you.
If you're a small business owner with minor children, you will most certainly need some different additional documents in place than a widowed retiree.
